Nixon Re-election
Richard Nixon has been re-elected. No one has really noticed the watergate scandal yet. -
Watergate
Democratic National Committee at Watergate scandalized. Scandal broke widly open to the public, whom are realizing how bad this looked on President Nixon. -
Nixon Resigns
After knowing that he was soon going to be impeached, President Nixon decided to resign before the impeachment occured. -
Saigon Falls
NVA invades Saigon and takes over South Vietnam Gov. With that, the President immediately calls for evacuation of U.S. troops and South Vietnam Refugees. There were too many, though and not all were saved. -
Jimmy Carter for President
became president and beat out Ford. Human rights were very important to him. -
Iran Hostages
Irania revolution trying to be promoted by holding 66 americans for 444 days. Ended tensions with Iran and started more trade. -
The Challenger
Exploded right after launch and killed all inside. Couldn't launch any more for 3 years and had to add more safety precautions -
INF Treaty
US and USSR signed treaty to get rid of nuclear weapons. -
The Tiananmen Square
Student strike at tiannenmen square. This led to other strikes around the country for others who wanted to mak their point. -
The Berlin Wall
Berlin Wall taken down between East and West Germany in hopes of bringing country together again. -
AIDS
Magic Johnson announces that he has AIDS and raises awareness about it and how anyone can get it and how common it could be. -
Rodney King Riot
King was beaten by cops, cops not found guilty at first, so King riots and then 2 cops found guilty. Caused many riots to happen and showed that rascism was still happening -

Bill Clinton elected to office as President -
Oklahoma City
American terrorists set off bomb in Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and killed 168 people. Worst act of terrorism at the time and US buckled down on terrorists a little bit more. -
Clinton's Impeachment
Clinton was found guilty of perjury and was impeached. This got rid of him as president in order to have a better, more reliable one come in. -
9/11
Terrorists from al-Qaeda hijacked planes and crashed them into the twin towers. Another attaced the pentagon. Many were killed and made U.S. aware and very scared of terrorists.
