Exposition 1
Sadeed Bayat was invited to Akbar’s house.
Sadeed is a very good student and can easily use English, he lives in Afghanistan. His job is to reply to a letter that an American girl wrote to his town. -
Exposition 2
A small town in Afghanistan where Sadeed Bayat, his sister, mother, and father live. The war is still going and it is cold. -
Exposition 3
Sadeed Bayat: very smart Afghan boy
Sadeed's sister: younger but still very smart
Saded's Mother and Father: very caring and kind to there children.
Abby: American girl who wrote letters for an extra credit project in school. -
Conflict
Abby is still receiving bad grades in her homework, class work, and test scores.
She is now failing all of her classes except for gym where she excels. -
Rising Action
Abby has a meeting with her teachers.
Her teachers tell her that if she does not get an A or a B on the work she will not be moving to the next grade. She also is going to have to do a huge extra credit report. -
Rising Action
Abby gets home and talks to her family about her grades and they are angry and doubtful that she will be able to move to the 6th grade. -
Rising Action
Abby has another meeting with her teachers and is only going to be able to move to the 6th grade if she has nothing under a B in classwork and tests, does all of her homework and does an extra credit project. -
Rising Action
She recieves her Extra Credit project and is going to have to become pen pals with someone in Afghanistan. -

Abby sends her first letter to Afghanistan and is hoping she will get atleast five replies by the end of the school year. -
Rising Action
Sadeed helps his sister to reply to Abby's letter and sends it off to America with the help of his teacher. -
Climax/Turning Point
Sadeed Bayat get's attacked by a man on a hill who does not support America at all. He rips Abby's letter to pieces and tries to hurt Sadded. However, Sadeed was very srong and through the man into the creek, He scoops up the letter from the ground and runs away as fast as he can. He tells his parents and they say that he must stop contact with Abby. -
Falling Action
Abby is told that she can not write any more letters to Afghanistan because if she did than Sadeed might get hurt by the man that assaulted him. -
Falling Action
Abby tries the climbing wall again but she till can not get over the lip of the wall. -
Falling Action
On field day Abby tries the wall one last time without any supervision or gear but gives up because it is unsafe for her to keep climbing without gear or anything to protect her. -
Falling Action
Abby finally hears from Sadeed once more on field day at her school. He talks about how the USA is helping to get rid of people like the man that assulted him on the hill. Abby is happy and motivated by Sadeed's story. -
Resolution
The guidance counseler calls her to the office and she recieves and envelope. In the envelope she sees a letter that says she has succesfully moved on to the 6th grade. She jumps for joy and sees that all of the hard work has payed off.
