First President

George Washington is the first President, his main goal was to create a great representation. He elected Thomas Jefferson as secretary of state. George was a careful decision-maker so he would always think before doing something and it was one of his strongest aspects(ignitia editors)

Bill of Rights

1791

In 1789, Congress adopted the first ten amendments to the Constitution. By the end of 1791, the amendments had been ratified by the states. The Antifederalists were against the Bill Of Rights. The Bill Of Rights was the rights of the people(ignitia editors)

Treaty with England

1795

The war of 1789 was between the U.S and the English and the spanish, It started because England was seizing ships and started impressing American sailors. The treaty was made by John Jay and England and it would stop the English from taking ships, leave the workers alone and leave America alone.(ignitia editors)

Treaty with Spain

The war of 1789 continued for a long time and was solved when America and Spain made this overland and territory. The Spanish sold Louisiana to the states.The U.S also gained the right to explore Mississippi (ignitia editors)

John Adams Election

1796

The election was between John Adams and Andrew Jackson, Adams was honest but his honesty was not favored in the election. Adams won and shortly after the war between the U.S and Great Britain was over.

The Alien Sedition Acts

1798

"Many of the immigrants who came to this country in the 1790s joined the Republican Party. Alarmed by this development, the Federalists decided to use the quarrel with France as an excuse for striking out at the Republicans."(ignitia editors). This caused many different acts against illegal immigrants, one of the acts is the Navigation act and which required an immigrant to be in the U.S for 14 years before being able to vote.

Marbury vs Madison

Jefferson appointed William Marbury into the Supreme Court before he left office. Chief Justice John Marshall recognized that if he and the justices approved Marbury's request, Madison might not follow the Court's orders. Marshall's decision in Marbury v. Louisiana purchase

1803

Napoleon's army had not been victorious in Santo Domingo, and many of his troops had been killed by yellow fever. He could no longer defend Louisiana. Napoleon summoned Robert Livingston. The purchase allowed for more land exploration and new resources.(ignitia editors).

Lewis and Clark

Lewis and Clark were explorers who searched around the states for more and more land. The land often had native American tribes in.
The tribes helped Lewis and Clark through the new terrain.

War of 1812

The declaration of war came too late and Great Britain attacked the U.S.The U.S was unprepared and was losing but the war ended in a cease-fire. But the U.S showed it could stand up against two of the most powerful countries in the world.
