    The 1st successful TV was demonstrated in San Francisco on September 7th 1927 and was designed by Philo Taylor Fransworth, a 21 year old inventor who lived a house without electricity until he was 14. Fransworth used a system that captured moving images by coding it into radio waves and then transforming it back into a picture on the screen.

    NBC station W2XBS transmits the 1st regular schedule of television service to 4,000 locally owed sets, showing President Roosevelt Opening NY's 1939 world fair. It later broadcasted the 1st Major league baseball game and the 1st NFL game.
  • The 1st commercial

    The FCC authorizes commercial television. NBC and General Mills sponsors a baseball game, just before the game starts the 1st commercial appears. It lasts 10 seconds and costs $9.
  • Color TV

    The 1st color tv is created by Peter Carl Goldmark in the summer of 1950. It isn't until the mid 1960's that it is introduced to the US public.
  • Color Broadcasting

    Color broadcasting officially arrives in the US on Dec. 17 1953 when the FCC approves a modified version of the RCA system. This was a major advancement in the evolution of the television.
  • 1st satellite broadcast

    1st satellite broadcast
    Satellite Telstar, belonging to AT&T, is launched by NASA at 4:35 am on July 10 1962. The 1st broadcast relayed from earth to space occurred later that same day with a transmission of the American flag waving in front of the Earth Station in Andover, Maine.
  • All digital switch

    All digital switch
    Television signals develop for older analogs formats to newer digital formats. The US shuts off all analog terrestrial TV broadcasts on February 17, 2009 because only 2.5% of US households still used analog formats.
