1st World Trade Center Bombing
A moving van was driven to the parking garage, soon after, 1,500 pounds of nitrate hydrogen gas exploded which made a 98 foot hole through four levels of concrete. This attack was by a group called The Liberation Army, 5th Battalion. 6 people died and 1,040 were injured. -
Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombing
A homemade bomb was carried in a truck to the building, which exploded, demolishing most of the building and damage to the area around it. 169 were killed and 675 were injured. -
Truck Bombing of US Embassies
Truck bombs carrying up to 17 tons of explosives were detonated at each side of the embassy. The attack was traced to an extremist group called The Egyptian Islamic Jihad. There were 303 killed and 4,954 injured. -
Bombing of USS Cole
Suicide bombers attacked the warship while in port. Al Qaeda claimed responisibility. There were 17 killed and 39 injured. -
9/11 Attack
Four airliners were hijacked by members of Al Qaeda and two of them crashed into New York City's World Trade Center, one of the other two crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC. The leader of Al Qaeda was Osama bin Laden. 2,993 people died and 8,900 were injured. -
Anthrax Letter Attacks
There were letters mailed out with a deadly chemical agent in powder form. The notes in the letters led to extremist religious groups. There were 5 killed and 17 injuries. -
Beslan Massacre
Inguish and Chechen Insurgents held a school in Russia captive, there were 1,100 hostages and 777 of them were children. These insurgents demanded an end to ongoing Chechen military dispute with Russia. On the third day, Russian officials acted and assulted the shool with tanks and heavy weapons, 30 insurgents were killed, but also 334 hostages were killed.
