Players wore their hard, leather, long laced work boots,ankle high with a steel toe-cap. Late 1800s introduced new set of soccer rules called Laws of the Game. Laws of the Game made the game more organized and structured.

Predator boots kept improving during the 1990's introducing new polymer extrusion technologies and materials allowing for a more flexible sole. Most significantly, 1990's saw the entry of NIKE into the soccer cleats market, immediately making an impact with its Nike Mercurial design in 1998, weighing in at just 200g.
