Evolution of Permanent magnets!

  • 600 BCE

    Lodestones

    Lodestones
Lodestones are magnetized mineral, that occur naturally in naturebut were noted in 6th century BC. They are used for like fortune telling in ancient china, demonstrating properties of magnets for classrooms and a couple of other scientific purposes.
  • Alnico magnets

    Alnico magnets
Alnico magnets were invented in 1931 by T. Mishima, Alnico is called that because it is primarily made out of Aluminum(Al), iron(I), nickel(Ni) and cobalt(Co). And sometimes contains copper or titanium. Alnico magnets are strong permanent magnets that function well in a wide range of temperature. And it is used for things like speakers, microphones and electric guitar motors.
  • Ceramic magnets

    Ceramic magnets
Ceramic magnets were invented in the 1960’s, Ceramic magnets are primarily made from ferrite. Ceramic magnets are a low cost alternative to metallic magnets, and are useful things like DC motors and magnetic separators.
  • Samarium cobalt magnets

    Samarium cobalt magnets
Samarium cobalt magnets were invented in 1960s by Karl Strnat and Alden Ray, Samarium cobalt magnets are powerful earth magnets that are made out of Samarium(Sm) and Cobalt(Co) they have high performance and can work in a wide range of temperature so they can be used in stuff like generators and pump coupling.
  • Neodymium magnets

    Neodymium magnets
Neodymium magnets were invented in 1982, Neodymium magnets are rare earth magnets made from Neodymium(Nd), Boron(B) and Iron(Fe) and is the world's strongest permanent magnets. They are useful for a variety of purposes like speakers and headphones, cordless power tools and electric engines.
