Evolution Of Cake Mix

  • The Original Cake Mix!

    The Original Cake Mix!
This is the first cake mix and it was made with eggs already incorporated into the box, but consumers did not buy it.
With further examination, researchers concluded that housewives felt as though they were cheating when making this cake, and eggs were removed to make consumers feel as though they have more control over the cake.
This was made by P. Duff and Sons.
  • Christmas Update!

They later added fruit and flavoured gelatin for Christmas in 1979.
  • Microwavable Cake Mix!

    Microwavable Cake Mix!
Microwavable cake mix, or more specifically, "MicroRave TM cake mixes", failed simply because the old-fashioned way was more preferred, and also because it was a bit too easy.
Now, microwavable cakes aren't that popular, as the idea of baking an entire cake in a microwave seems a bit fake to many, mug cakes became the new trend.
    This was made by Pilsbury.
  • Super Moist Light Cake Mix

When the health craze started, Betty Crocker came out with Betty Crocker SuperMoist Light cake mix in 1990, which was much healthier as it was 94% fat-free and with 50% less fat than an average cake. This was later renamed Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards cake mix in 1996.
This was made by Betty Crocker.
  • Stir n' Bake Cake Mix!

The demand for more convenience created the Stir n' Bake cake mix in 1997. You had to add water, put it in its own pan and add some frosting on top.
This was made by Betty Crocker.
  • Current Cake Mix!

    Current Cake Mix!
This is ONE of the current cake mixes today, but there are many, many cake mixes.
This is the standard chocolate cake mix, loaded with sweet chocolate and simplicity.

  • Future Cake Mix

I think we will make it more "work" to make, and it will require us to have more ingredients as people want to have their own touch to it.
