The Thaumatrope is a small optical device found by John Ayrton Paris. It was the first device to produce animation. It is a small disc and has different picture on each side. The Spinning Disc
Phenakistoscope is the first optical device invented by Joseph Plateau. It works using vision principle to create an illusion of motion. It uses a spinning disc attached vertically to a handle. It has series of drawing showing phases of animation. The Wheel of life
Zeotrope at first was 'wheel of the devil' named and invented by william George Horner. Later was known as 'wheel of life' by Lincoln. Projection of Clear image
Praxinoscope was a device that used mirrors to reflect light instead of slits to produce clear image. It was invented by a Frenchman Charles Emile Reynaud. Invention of multi plane camera
The multiplane camera is a special motion picture camera which allows animators to create a three-dimensional effect within two-dimensional cartoons. It is a part of traditional animation and was invented by Ub iwerks.
