The theory of spontaneous generation was believed for centuries, since at least
the time of Aristotle (4th Century BC, classical Greek philosopher). People, including
scientists, believed that higher living organisms, including man, had a divine origin;
however, simple living organisms could come into being by spontaneous generation. -
