Ally lives a sheltered life. She does not care about appearances or fashion.
Bree is a sophisticated girl who everyone says is gorgeous. She keeps up with all the fashion trends.
Jack's dad left him when he was a baby. -
Exposition: Setting
Ally lives in the middle of nowhere on a campground that her family runs. It is called Moon Shadow Campground.
Bree lives in the suburbs, where she has many friends and feels being popular is important.
Jack lives in the suburbs. He doesn't have many friends. -
Exposition: Characters
Ally is a simple nature girl who loves her brother and thinks that her life is the best.
Bree is popular and gorgeous and aspires to be a model.
Jack is overweight and awkward, and spends a lot of time alone. -
Conflict
Ally must move to the city and leave behind her sheltered life in the country.
Bree must move to the campground and leave her popularity and dreams behind.
Jack is going on a 3-week eclipse tour at the Moon Shadow Campground, and doing a project while there. -
Rising Action 1
Ally doesn't know that her family is moving.
Bree finds out and starts crying and runs to her friends house.
Jack leaves for tour. -
Rising Action 2
Ally sees Bree's family arrive at the campground and wonders what is going on.
Bree arrives and instantly hates it.
Jack arrives for tour. -
Rising Action 3
The three kids meet when a child who is very allergic to peanuts has a reaction and Jack saves his life. -
Rising Action 4
Ally finds out about her family moving, comes up with a plan to stop it with Bree. -
Rising Action 5
Ally and Bree carry out their plan. It fails. -
Rising Action 6
Jack explains to Ally, Bree, Ryan (Ally's friend), Kenny (Ally's brother), and Melanie (Bree's sister) the tour and project with Mr. Silver, who is the tour guide. -
Climax
Mr. Silver must rush off to the hospital to check on his sick wife, and the kids must do the project themselves. -
Falling Action 1
They ask Mr. Daniels, Mr. Silver's boss, for help, and he refuses, so they must do the project with no adult help. -
Falling Action 2
They set up the project. -
Falling Action 3
There is a huge storm and they must seek refuge in a shed. Jack, Ryan, and Melanie tell Ally about the suburbs and how to have a good time. -
Falling Action 4
Bree comes and joins them. The storm ends, and she has a revelation that clothes and appearance aren't the most important things in life. -
Falling Action 5
They all prepare for the eclipse and agree to do a "rain dance" so it doesn't rain. -
Resolution 1
The eclipse happens. Ally, Bree, and Jack realize what being beautiful really means. -
Resolution 2
Bree and Ally get used to the idea of moving. They realize that they still have a whole world to see. -
Resolution 3
They finish the project and find an alien signal from a planet. Bree and Ally move, and Jack goes home.
