  • Carl Vinson

    Carl Vinson was a Georgian United States Representative. He was born in Fulton County. On Nov 3, 1914 he was elected youngest member of congress. He was 31.
  • Richard Russel

    Richard Russel was a GA governor. He was elceted several times in the House of Representatives. He was succeeded by Eugene Talmadge.
  • Holocaust

    Holocaust
    The Holocaust was when Germany murdered millions of Jews. (anti semitism) Adolf Hitler was the man who came up with the idea of the Holocaust and put it into effect. His supporters were called Nazis and they put Jews in concentration camps.
  • Bell Aircraft

    This was a United States corporation that built fighter jets for the U.S during WWII. This corporation was founded on July 10, 1935. They made the first super sonic aircraft. The corportaion ended in 1960.
  • WWII Beginning in Europe

    WWII Beginning in Europe
    WWII started in Europe because Germany invaded Poland because they were angry that they had to sign the Treaty of Versailles at the end of WWI because they lost. 2 days after they invaded Poland, Britain and France declared war on Germany. Britain and France were the allied powers and Germany was part of the axis powers.
  • Brunswick Shipyard

    This was one of the 16 ports in the U.S that helped send cargo vessels to the allied powers during WWII. There were 16,000 workers at the Brunswick shipyard who built Liberty ships. This was done from 1941-1945.
  • The Lend-Lease Program

    This was when the U.S.A was giving the other allied powers supplies for the war. They gave them food, oil, weapons, etc. This lasted from the time the U.S entered the war (1941) to the time the war ended (1945).
  • Savannah Shipyard

    Savannah was also another one of the ports for Liberty Ship construction. The construction was done at the Savannah River cite. These ports also had female workers since the majority of men in the U.S were fighting in the war, this gave women an oppurtunity to work.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    The Attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii caused the United States to join the war. The Japanese were the ones who bombed the naval base in the early morning that day. FDR was president during this time.
  • D- Day

    This is what led to the end of WWII. The American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in France. This caused Germany to surender.
  • Yalta Conference

    This was when the world leaders Joesph Stalin, FDR, and Winston Churchill met up during the end of WWII, which then led to the Cold War. They disscussed how they wanted Germany to surrender.
  • HItler's Death

    Hitler died on this day becasue the allied powers came after him to inpriosn him so he and his wife commited suicide. They didn't want to be torchured so they resorted to that. Germany had los the war.
  • Bombed Dropped on Hiroshima

    This Bomb was dropped by the Americans in Hiroshima, Japan. The Americans dropped the bomb to get the Japanese to surrender in WWII. The bomb was called "Little Boy".
  • Bomb on Nagasaki

    The Americans dropped another bomb called the "Fat Man" on Nagasaki, Japan. This was another atempt to get the Japanese to surrender. This plan ended up working and the Japanese surrendered which led to the end of the war.
  • United Nations Formed

    The United Nations was created by European Countries after WWII. This was created in attempt to make sure that the nations get along and don't have another war. This corporation has been successful.
  • Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech

    Churchill was a british prime minister who gave a famous speech. The speech was called the iron curtain. This speech was given during the cold war, the iron curtain symbolized seperate nations, so that is why they formed the United nations after WWII.
