The eighth air force attacks a Nazi Germany city and loses seven bombers in the process. The Germans used a new anti-aircraft tactic called 'predicted barrage' where Nazis launched a box of explosives into the air to hit enemy bombers. -
The Battle of the Bulge
After the succes of the Allies invasion on the coast of Normandy, France, Hitler sent Nazi troops to fight the American army to try and turn the war around in his favor. A week later, the Eighth Air Force sent much needed air support to the battle, and dropped more bombs than any other day during the war. -

All German forces surrender in Reims, France. Reims was the location of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces during the last two years of the war. -
The Atomic Bomb
When the terms of Germany's surrender were concluded, America began preparing new bomber groups to attack Japan. The Air Force then dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. About a week and a half later, Japan surrenders to the Allied forces and World WarII comes to an end.
