  • The Austrian Anschluss

    The Austrian Anschluss
    On the day of march 3, 1938 Adolf Hitler announced a "Anschluss" with Austria. He wanted to make a greater Germany by making a Union with Austria. Hitler didn't have full approval with this, and the chancellor of Austria bullied by Hitler, agreed to Hitlers demands. Hoping by doing this would prevent a German invasion, but Hitler insisted with more German influence in Austria.
  • The Munich Conference

    This was an agreement involving Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy. This agreement for for Germany to annexation of Sudetenland. Hitler also provided that he will promise not to invade anywhere else.
  • Hitler Demands Danzig

    Hitler Demands Danzig
    When Germany rose to power, a lot of the Nazi party recruitment efforts were in Danzig. Danzip was a quasi-independent city state. Polish wanted the city within its boundaries. Hitler wanted that city as an intent to cause war with Poland.
  • The Nazi-Soviet Pact

    The Nazi-Soviet Pact
    Germany and the Soviet Union agreed to not have any military conflict within the next 10 years. Leader Joseph Stalin thought this would be a good way to keep away from war and peace terms with Germany. Hitler used this pact as a way to invade Poland unopposed. The pact fell apart in June 1941 when Germany invaded the Soviet Union.

    Around 1.5 million German troops invaded Poland. Poland airfields were bombed, and Poland naval forces were attacked by German u-boats and warships. Adolf Hitler claimed it was a defense action, but France and Great Britain were convinced of his statement. Because of this on September 3, they declared war with Germany.

    The evacuation of Dunkirk was the evacuation of allied soldiers. They were on the north of France of the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk. This occurred between may 26 - June 4 of 1940. The evacuation was successful.

    The battle of Britain was a military campaign. Royal air forces defended the United Kingdom form German air forces.This battle failed when Germany could not gain superiority for the British air force. The battle lasted till Oct. 31, 1940, resulting in a British Victory.
