The Boston tea party was an act of protest in which 60 Americans threw 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Second Continental Congress meets
The second continental congress met inside independence hall in the beginning in may 1775. They had this meeting a couple months after the first shots at Lexington had been fired, they are preparing for war. -
Battle of bunker hill
This battle is known as the bloodiest battles, nearly half of the redcoats had died while the patriots sustained over 400 causalities. -
Olive Branch Petition sent to England
This petition was adopted by congress to be sent to the king as a last resort to stop a formal war. This emphasizes there loyalty to the British crown and know they are still British citizens. -
Battle of yorktown
Washingtons forces had defeated the British soldiers, this lead to peace negotiation and ended the conflict. -
Treaty of Paris signed
When the U.S and the British representatives signed a treaty ending the war of the American Revolution. This agreement recognized the U.S independence and gave the significant western territory. -

This counted every 3/5 was counted when determining a states total population. This went along with he saying no taxation without representation. -
Great Compromise
It was an agreement during the Constitutional Convention of 1787, this defined the legislative structure. This settled the method of representation in the legislative branch. -
Constitution is ratified
The founders set the laws for ratifying the constitution. But there are only 9/13 of the states enacted the new government. -
Bill of rights adopted
In October of 1789 President Washington sent copies of the 12 amendments which were adopted by the congress of the states. These are now known as the Bill of Rights.
