The British empire did this due to them being deep in dept. due to the seven years of war they were in so they relied on the American Colonies as a revenue source. Then the American Colonies fought back claiming the taxes were unjustified. Which ended up Starting a Revolutionary war That the Americans won and Then Made the Declaration Of Independence.

  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    On March 5 1770, At the Customs House in Boston a mob of American Colonist who called themselves patriots. Began to taunt British soldiers who were currently guarding the building. They were protesting against the British soldiers who were sent to Boston in 1768 to enforce the unjustified taxes that were passed by Britain. Captain Preston Thomas ordered his men to join the guard outside. The colonist began to throw objects and struck private Hugh Montgomery which made the guards let loose fire.

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest. It was started at Griffins Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonist got angry at Britain for imposing taxation without representation. To get back at Britain the American colonist dumped 342 chest of tea brought into the harbor by the British East India Company. After that American patriots rallied across the 13 colonies to fight for independence.

    On the 2nd of October in 1789, President G. Washington sent copies of the 12 amendments adopted by Congress to the states. Numbers three through twelve were adopted by the states to become the United States (U.S.) Bill of Rights, effective December 15, 1791.
