    Control of this high ground near the harbor was important to the British occupation of Boston. The poorly trained colonial forces repelled two assaults by the British Army before retreating.     5,895 British and Hessian troops surrendered to the colonists. General John Burgoyne had lost 86 percent of his British force. They wanted to invade America from Canada. British believed that they would isolate New England from the other American colonies. They failed and the colonies recieved a major victory. comeback

    There was didease everywhere. The wather was terrible. Many soldiers were dying before they even fought. They were being pushed around by British forces. They could not do anything, Many people just gave up.

    On Nov 30, 1782, the rough draft articles were signed. They started talking about and arranging the negotiations. In 1783 they signed the final treaty. Congress ratified it in 1784. PEACE!!!
