Stated that everyone born or naturalized in the United States are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. It also state that no State can enforce any law that abridges the privileges of U.S. Citizens. it shows the Federal Government limitating the states government's power in segregation -

The 15th Amendment gave African Americans the right to vote. This event was significant because it was

Civil Rights Act of 1875
It guaranteed African Americans equal treament in public accomadation, transportation, and prohibited exclusion from Jury Service. Supreme Court later decided that the act was unconstitutional. this events showed that the state's power can't be limited by the federal government. -
Plessy v. Ferguson
Enforces the i dea of "separate but equal"; was a true motivation for the practice of segregation. It led to more people fighting for the end of segregation. -
NAACP founded
WEB Du Bois (and others) founded NAACP for black people to help each other progress. It is the Unted States' oldest, largest and most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization. The NAACP is important because it fought for blacks and helped them earned a lot of their rights -

The executive order 9981 abolished racial discrimination in the armed forces. it is important because it led to end of segregation in military services and training. -
Brown vs. Board of Education
Brown vs. Board of Education stated that the idea of "separate but equal" is wrong and unconstitution. It stated that the idea of segregation causes psychological effect on both groups that made one group seem inferior. Little Rock Nine
The NAACP registered nine students to Little Rock Central High School. these nine students were bullied and threthened by an angry mob. The school was closed down but when reopened only two of those nine students attended because the rest felt unprotected and unworthy for the school. this event is important because it showed that people disregard the conclusion from Brown vs. Board of Education. It also showed that segregation so truly cause a psychological effect -
SNCC
A group of four African American guys sat at a lunch counter, which was only for whites. The workers would not wait on them so the four guys sat there until the place closed. The next day they brought twenty five other students and the same thing happened, they got denied. On April 1960, an SCLC official invited the four students to form an organization for African American Youths that promoted non-violence protest for their rights -
James Meredith
James Meredith was the first black admitted into University of Mississippi.The violence and riots surrounding the incident cause President Kennedy to send 5,000 federal troops. This event is important because it showed that black people are well motivated to get their rights and wont back down till they get it. -
March on Washington
The March on Washington was organized the theme job and freedom. it was where MLK jr. delivered his "I Have A Dream" speech. It was an important event because the speech shooked thousands of people and motivated people to fight for the end of segregation. HIs dream led to many other dreams.
