He began to change the economy for the better but at the same time many opposing people were harshly punished.

    Japan wanted to acquire Manchuria because of its large sum of land. Japan was filling with its immense population and wanted such a place to put their people giving no concern to the people of Manchuria. They also believed that Manchuria was rich in rare minerals. Japan did not listen to the League of Nations and launched a full scale attack on Manchuria and they occupied the entire province.

    German army led under Hitler's rule went around the heavily gaurded border created by the French by the weaker and less protected areas. Allies desperately made attempts to help but they failed horribly. Finally the German tanks reached Amiens and trapped the British forces and they had to make an emergency evacuation to England along with many of the desperate French Allies however this resulted in great losses. .

    Hitler was focused on invading England after the great success in France. The British, rrealizing the incoming dangers had their extremely advanced airforce ready for a challenge. This system of aircraft was the RAF and it came with a priceless tool; the radar. On this day the big invasion was thwarted as the RAF held off the incoming German airforce. Hitler had given up and decided to take over smaller and less powerful countries.

    Hitler broke his no violence treaty with Stalin and launched a surprise attack on the Soviet Union. The attack was in the winter and the German army was not ready for such cold weather. They were freezing and the Russian army gained the Upper hand. Hitler did not let his troops retreat and many soldiers were losing confidence in him resulting in Hitler firing come of his top commanders. Russia was safe and Hitler's reign of terror had finally been slowed by his relentless greed.

    Japan launched a surprise air attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Japan felt that the US naval base posed a threat. Hundreds of Japanese bombers flew over the base and unleashed a fury of attacks upon the ships and completely oblivious military forces. Aircraft losses were 188 destroyed and 159 damaged, the majority hit before the had a chance to take off. American dead numbered 2,403. 8 battleships were destroyed. They were dragged into a war they wanted no part of.

    Japan wanted control of the small island in order to establish an air base there. The surprise attack was thwarted because of American communications intelligence. They were thus prepared for an attack. The Japanese lost 4 irreplaceable fleet carriers while the US lost 3. The island remained operational and later became a vital component in the American trans-Pacific offensive.

    Hitler wanted control of Stalinngrad because of its oil. It was a large communications center and was named after their leader, Joseph Stalin. So in order to keep morale high, they could not lose such a crucial battle. The Russians used a counter offensive on the Germans on this day. Also, the lack of their food and supplies in addition to the cold weather forced the Germans to surrender.

    The Allies were separated into 5 designated beaches in Normandy and were determined to free Europe from Nazi Germany. There were about 155,000 soldiers, 5,000 ships and landing craft, 50,000 vehicles and 11,000 planes set for the coming battle. The Germans were unable to handle the numbers of troops against them. As a result of strategic planning, Paris had been successfully freed.

    The Soviet army surrounded Berlin and slowly tightened its hold on the remaining Nazi defenders. Fighting street-to-street and house-to-house, Russian troops blasted their way towards Hitler's chancellery in the city's center. Inside his underground bunker Hitler waited as his Thousand Year Reich crumbled above him. In his final hours he married his long-time mistress and then joined her in suicide. Hitler's reign was over.

    Japan had to be stopped and controlled thus the United States took drastic measures in order to destroy their advancing forces. They dropped it in the middle of Hiroshima not only attacking troops then but the entire country and all of its citizens. It completely flattened the city killing most of its population.

    These trials occured against the Nazi soldiers that took part in horrible crimes and participated in crimes against nature. Men were hanged and given life sentences in jail on this date. Its purpose was to put all Nazi generals on the Trial for the Holocaust.
