    Queen Anne's War

    Queen Anne's War began on May 4th, 1702. This was the second of the French and Indian war. It was fought over who would have the power over the North American continent, in the thirteen colonies.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was a law passed on April 5, 1764, by the British Parliament to raise income from the thirteen colonies, by putting taxes on sugar, imported into the colonies.
  • Currency Act

    The Currency Act was a British Law that was passed on September 1, 1764, by the Parliament of Great Britain. The objective of this law was to control the colonial currency system. Both the Sugar Act and Currency Act tried to control the revenue.
  • Quartering Act

    In 1765, citizens of the thirteen colonies were required to house British soldiers and provide them with shelter, food, and anything else they needed/wanted.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act required citizens to pay for almost every paper used for legal documents, such as newspapers, pamphlets, and broad signs, in the American colonies.
  • Declaratory Act

    The British Parliament passed the Declaratory Act, in 1766, which proclaimed its power to legislate for the colonies "in all cases whatsoever". The authority of the Parliament was the same in America as in Britain.
  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts were multiple laws that put taxes on new shipments of British goods, such as, glass, paper, paint, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a pre-revolutionary event. Protest activities of the of the Sons of Liberty Patriots began resentment between Boston colonists and the British.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act was selling excess tea at reduced prices, as well as expanding the company's monopoly on the tea trade to all of the British Colonies.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest, constructed by colonists in Boston, about the tax that had been put on the tea, which was imposed by the British Government.
  • Intolerable Acts

    There were five intolerable acts of 1774. First, the Boston Port Massacre, second, the Massachusetts Government Act, third, the administration justice act, then, the quartering act of 1774, finally, the Quebec act of 1774.

    On September 5th, 1774 the first continental congress met in Philadelphia. Representatives from each colony attended except Georgia.

    Siege of Boston

    At the beginning of the American Revolutionary War, April 1775- March 1776, the Continental Army, accomplished a siege to British-help Boston, Massachusettes. The siege came to an end when the British evacuated the town, once they noticed Boston was indefensible to the American positions.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Tension has been rising between the thirteen colonies and the British forces for many years now. The battles of Lexington and Concord were just the beginning of the American Revolutionary War on, April 19, 1775.

    Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress attendees were chosen by a popular election. The Second Continental Congress was held in Philadelphia on May 10th, 1775. The congress withdrew December 10th, 1776.
  • The Battle of Long Island

    The Battle of Long Island is also known as the Battle of Brooklyn Heights. On the day of the evacuation of the British groups, George Washington ordered five regiments of the Colonial Army to New York.
  • The Battle of Trenton

    George Washington and his force attacked the Hessian fort at Trenton on December 26th, 1776. The men at the Hessian fort were tired and not prepared for the attack of Washington and his team.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation were the first governing document as well as the original constitution. The Articles of Confederation provided a foundation for the improved constitution we abide in today. The process of writing the Articles of Confederation didn't start until 1777, but they were adopted and ratified by 1781.

    Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga occurred during the second year of the American Revolution in September and October 1777. This Battle was a turning point in the American Revolution because the Spanish, French, and Dutch joined their cause against a mutual enemy.
  • Battle of Princeton

    On January 3, 1777, George Wahington and sent some of his soldiers to destroy a bridge under General Huge Mercer, and that's when the fighting broke out.
  • Flag Day

    The Continental Congress approved the original flag on June 14th, 1777. The early American flags were sewen in Philadelphia by Francis Hopkinson. President Harry Truman declared a National Flag Day to be established every year, in 1949.
  • The Battle of Germantown

    The American Continental Army was defeated by the British Army in Pennsylvania. Even though Washington and his men have lost that battle their skill significantly improved and Washington proved to be a great leader.

    The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown was one of the last major battles of the American Revolution. The British surrendered to the American force on October 19, 1781.
  • Peace Treaty of Paris

    The American War for Independence was finalized by the Peace Treaty of Paris of 1783.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    One of the Congress of Confederation acts was the Northwest Ordinance. It was issued for a fast, timely, and orderly expansion of the new nation across the continent.
