Events Leading up the Declaration of Independence

  • French and Indian War

    France was trying to expand their land. British colonies were not happy with this and went to war and ended up winning the war.
  • Albany Plan

    Benjamin Franklin proposed a plan to unite the colonies. It was rejected.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This made George Washington commander of organizing the continental army. This was important for the war.
  • Stamp Act

    War left huge debt, King George lll, in order to pay the debt, decided to raise taxes for products making the revenue greater for Britain. The people of Britain were not happy with this.
