Was and attempt by the white abolitionist John Brown to start an armed slave revolt. Ended on Oct. 18 1859. -

South Carolina Secedes from the Union
Was the 1st southern state to secede from the Union. -

The group of 11 southen states that seceded from the United States. (it wasnt the 1st of the month) -
Confederate Troops Fire at Fort Sumter, South Carolina
Confederate leaders decided to capture the fort while it was isolated. This started the Civil War.
