This novel, by Harriet Beecher Stowe, was about anti-slavery. It helped lay the groundwork of the Civil War. (red) -

A network of secret routes and safe houses that slaves used to escape to free states. (red) -

Dredd Scott was a slave and he started a case that the Court affirmed, being that slave owners had the right to take their slaves into Western territories. This increased tension because he was a free slave and made a powerful decision relating to slavery. (red) -
