Japanese Invasion on China
Japan invaded China in 1937 because Japan wanted Chinas resources. China was a weak nation and since Japan was an empire they were looking to expand and take over territory. Stalin supplied China with firearms because they saw Japan as a threat as they were fighting China. Britain, France, and the US all aided China as they saw the conflict in Asia. -
Germany invades Poland
Germany invaded Poland on land and in air in hopes of regaining lost territory and controlling all of Poland. The strategy used to invade Poland was known as the "blitzkreig". Once Hitler had control over Poland he set up security and concentration camps to follow the Nazi ideaology in religion, political or racial. -
Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact
The Molotov Pact was named after a soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov. It was also known as the Hitler-Stalin Pact. Germany ended the pact by invading the Soviet Union on June 22nd, this was Operation Barbarossa. -
German Blitzkrieg
A method of warefare that was used in World War II by the Germans. The method was used when Germany invaded Poland and they were successful and gained control of Poland. -
Operation Barbarossa
The Molotov Pact led to Operation Barbarossa because Hitler wanted to attack the Soviet Union and gain control of their territory. The attack stretched from the Black sea to the North Cape, covering two thousand miles. Hitlers objective was to enslave the Soviets and kill all of the Jews. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan attacked the US to try to destroy the Pacific fleet. The US and Japan had disagreed with each others doing. When Japan declared war on China, the US supplied them with aids in return for oil and the furiated Japan. The US was blind sided because they were not expecting Japan to attack American territory so when they bombed Pearl Harbor it took them by surprise. -
Battle of Midway
The US attacked four Japanese aircrafts after they attacked Pearl Harbor. This ended the Japanese offenses against the American fleet. -
Wannsee Conference
This was a meeting that discussed the solution to the Jews. They decided on the concentration camp and to just work them to death, the only conflict was that it was time consuming. Once the gas chambers took place they were killing a thousand Jews a day. -
Bataan Death March
Fillopino and American tropps were forced to walk a sixty-five mile long march to camps. The extreme heat and and treatment from the Japanese guards resulted in many deaths. The march started in Mariveles to San Fernando. The men died from disease, brutality, and exhuastion from the heat. -

Battle of Stalingrad
Russia considers this battle one of the greatest because it stopped Germany from advancing into the Soviet Union. It killed around two million people and is also one of the bloodiest battles in World War II. -
Operation Gomorrah
Britain lost 167 men from Germany bombing them. Then Britain sent 791 aircrafts to bomb Germany and only 12 went down. Germany lost 1,500 men from Britain bombing them. -
D-Day
The US, Canada, and Britain planned to attack France across a fifty mile long beach. The goal was to mislead the Germans into thinking the target was supposed to be somewhere else. It was the biggest attack in World War II. -

Hitler was trying to split the allies so he ordered a blitzkreig through Ardennes to Antwrep. The Americans were caught off gaurd and they lost 100,000 men. -
Operation Thunderclap
Plan by Americans to take over Central America. This was done by blocking their naval bases and bombings. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
American soldiers fought against Japan in horrible conditions which led to many deaths. The American flag was raised up to show victory for the Americans. -

Japanese sent one way suicide planes to defeat the allied forces. The commanding generals on both sides died during this battle. There were 278,000 tropps from the US against 130,000 Japanese soldiers. -
VE Day
The US won the war against Europe. It stands for victory in Europe day. German general Jodi sighned a surrender document ending the war in Europe. -
Potsdam Declaration
This was a statement to Japan saying they surrendered and that they wouldn' be enslaved or their nation be destroyed. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima
When Japan was the last one standing the US dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima to force Japan to surrender. The American B-29 bomber dropped the bomb. The bomb killed 40,000 people and wiped out the majority of the city. -
VJ Day
Japan surrendered to the US six months after Europe did.
