    About 700 British Army regulars under Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith were going to destroy stocks of weapons being stored in Massachusetts militia's store. Patriot leaders had word of this, and met the British at the North Bridge in Concord. They were warned by a code system involving lanters at the Old North Church. No one know who fired first but it is still called 'the shot heard around the world.' The British walked free but were fired at on their way to Boston.

    American troops under Artemas Ward, left their camp, their destinaton was Bunker Hill. From there they were planning to invade British ships in Boston Harbor, but they misunderstood and went to Breeds Hill, closer to the British camp. British General William Howe opened fire. The British retreated after the rebels fought back and fought many casualties.

    After the British evacuated Boston, Patriot General Washington expected British's next target to invade New York, so he marched his troops to Lower Manhattan. In early July 400 British ships with men aboard arrived in Staten Island. General Leopold Van Helster launched Hessians on troops. Patriot John Sullivan ordered his troops to retreat back before they were captured. Washingon was said to be the last Patriot leaving Brooklyn the next foggy morning.

    After his famous crossing of the Delaware River, General Washington marched his continental army to Trenton, New Jersey, as they entered the city German drums alerted the Hessians who were sleeping. Patriots had the element of suprise. Eventually Washingtons forces overpowered the Hessians. The Continental Army captured nearly nine hundred Hessians along with useful military artilery.

    The Battle of Saratoga is the turing point of the Revolutionary War. The battle was fought on the Hudson River in Saratoga, New York. The British Army was led by John Burgoyne. The battle consisted of two fight. The Battle of Freeman's Farm and the battle of Bemis Heights. Finally the British surrendured on October 17. This surrender changed the course of the war, because France entered the fight on the Americans side.

The Americans had Yorktown completely encircled and after three s of non-stop fighting British General finally surrenderd in a feild Yorktown on October 17.
