Intimacy vs Isolation
Janelle (age 36) is a well educated woman who has a masters in nursing. She is dating but cannot be in a committed relationship as she feels like she cannot be loved by others. In Erickson's sixth stage, Janelle is in the Intimacy vs. Isolation. The major question in this stage seems to be "Can I be loved?" This may lead her into isolation if she is unable to complete this step, according to Erickson. -
Trust vs. Mistrust
Madison (age 23) and her boyfriend, Henry, (age 26) have been dating for about 5 years. Henry would like for Madison to move in with him as to him this is the next logical step. However, Madison feels like she is not ready for that type of commitment as she does not trust Henry. Henry has never given her any type of reason to though his devotion to her. Madison was never able to complete stage one in Erickson's stages, Trust vs. mistrust. -
Ego Identity vs. Role Confusion
Ada (age 13) is in eight grade. She was an A student, but recently her grades have started to drop. She use to have blonde beautiful hair, but dyed it green. She has been very reveling lately against her parents. According to Erickson's fifth stage, Ego Identity vs. Role confusion trouble is in the horizon.
