Birth
Eva is the youngest of five siblings. She is raised by her mother in the small town of Los Todos, located in Las Pampas. -
Death of Eva's Father
Eva's father, Juan Duarte, was killed in a car accident in 1926. However, this didn't have a great affect on Eva and her siblings because their father had already left their family. Eva's father was married and had children with another woman prior to meeting Eva's mother. After Eva's birth her father returned to his first family and wife. Even though Eva's father was wealthy she grew up very poor. -
Eva moves to Buenos Aires
At age 15 Eva moves away from her family to the big city to pursue a career as an actress. Her life is initially very difficult but she eventually finds success. In 1937, Perón landed her first film role in Segundos Afuera and got a contract to perform on the radio. She continued to work in stage productions as well over the next few years. -

The Birth of the Peronist Party
October 17, 1945 is the most important day is history for the Peronist party. On this October day, thousands of people, mostly laborers, gathered in Plaza de Mayo to demand the release of Peron. The laborers were successful in that Peron was brought back from prison. Although Eva may not have directly played a role in Peron’s return, this day would forever change her life. Her husband was no longer just a political figure, he was now a presidential candidate for the Peronist Party. -

Eva becomes First Lady of Argentina
Peron is elected the 29th President of Argentina with Eva by his side. When he moves into office in June his two stated goals were social justice and economic independence. As first lady Eva helps him reach these goals. Peron puts Eva in charge of the ministries of Labor and Health, in addition to advocating for labor rights and trade unions, running her organization, campaigning for women's suffrage and many other duties. -
Five Year Plan is sent to Congress
Eva was able to take Peron’s words and put them into action through the first Five Year Plan in 1946, a bill sent to Congress that encompassed many goals of the presidency. The bill mapped out a plan of achievements and investments for Argentina. -
Creation of the Peronista Party
Eva wanted to create an organization that was exclusively for women. The Peronista Women’s Party held its First National Assembly on July 26, 1949, in Buenos Aires. The assembly elected Eva Perón as President. The Fundación was dedicated to making women capable of joining the workforce. -
Argentine women gain the right to vote
Congress passes a law giving women the right to vote. -
Vice Presidential Nomination
Evita is nominated by her husband to be his VP in the 1951 election. All of her supporters, mostly working class, were thrilled with a "Peron y Peron" ticket for the Peronist Party. However, due to the strong opposition from the military and her declining health, Eva was forced to withdraw her candidacy. -
Eva's Death
Eva Peron dies at age 33 from cancer. Around three million people attended Eva's funeral over the course of two weeks. A plan was created to construct a memorial in her honor in which her body would rest. However, there was a military coup and Peron was forced to flee the country before finalizing the plans for Evita's resting place. For 16 years Eva's body went missing. In 1971 the military admitted to relocating the body to Milan where it was recovered and reburied in the Recoleta Cemetery.
