Why- Germany wanted to take over the English Channel to start having German forces inside of Britain. -

Who- Germany against the Soviet Union
What- the operation was for the invasion of the Soviet Union by the Axis powers.
When- June 22, 1941
Where- took place in the Soviet Union since that was who Germany wanted to invade.
Why- Nazi Germany wanted to invade and takeover the Western part of the Soviet Union and repopulate it with Germans. -
Operation Torch
Who- The Allied powers against the French/Germans.
What- It was the Allies invasion of French North Africa which was populated by the French who were formally aligned with Germany.
When- November 8, 1942 - May 13 1943.
Where- The invasion took place in Northern Africa.
Why- They thought that the French located there might support the aAllied powers and the Allied powers also wanted to fight the Nazis. -
Operation Overlord
Who- United States, British, and Canadian.
What- it was the invasion of Normandy where the Allied forces landed on 5 separate beachheads in Normandy France.
When- June 6, 1944
Where- Normandy, France
Why- They wanted to push through the Germans in France to over throw Hitler. -
Yalta Conference
Who- U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin.
What- the conference was held to discuss the post-war fate of the-defeated Germany and the rest of Europe.
When- February 4, 1945 to February 11, 1945
Where- took place in a Russian resort town called Crimea.
Why- took place because the three major Allied powers needed to discuss some kind of punishment for the Axis powers.
