    Battle of the Atlantic
    The Battle of the Atlantic lasted from 1939-1945. The British needed resources, so the U.S. was its best option. In order to transport the merchant ships, they would from a convoy with armed fighting ships on the outside to protect them from the wolf packs of German U-Boats. Some picked off, a total of 360 American ships were sunk compared to the eight German U-boats. Americans tactics and technology were stronger. We used radar and were able to hack Germany's code system.

    Battle of Britain
    German bombers attack over the English Channel. More than 1,400 German planes attack southern England. The London Blitz began. About 1,700 Luftwaffe planes were destroyed.2,662 German troops were killed, while only around 1,000 of the British were killed. the British were victorious.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Russia and Germany fought in the battle. After this battle, the German army was in full retreat. It was fought in the winter. Over 750,000 people were killed on the German side, while over 650,000 of the Soviets were killed. This battle was a major turning point in WWII.
  • Battle of El Alamein

    Battle of El Alamein
    The British, Australian, New Zealand, South African, Indian and French troops were in the battle on the Allied side while German and Italian troops were the Axis powers. This battle was a major turning point in WWII. It took place in Egypt. it was the only land battle won by the British without help of the US. This victory also persuaded the French to help out in the campaign.
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord
    This battle took place on the shores of Normandy. The Allied force included about 3.5 million soldiers, they knew they would face a strong army. The soldiers began parachuting behind German lines. The Allies had to weave in and out of rains of bullets and shells. Even though there were nearly 10,000 casualties, the Allies were victorious. The Allies were now on their march to France.

    Operation Torch
    The Allies invaded French North Africa. the plan was to invade Morocco and Alegeria, of which VIchy, France was hailing over. Three landing sites for the Allies were chosen- Casablanca, Oran and Algiers. A total of 500 casualties were suffered on the Allied side.
  • Invasion of Sicily/Italy

    Invasion of Sicily/Italy
    The Allied powers, led by Erwin Rommel, attacked the Island of Sicily and the Axis Powers. Churchill and Roosevelt persuaded Mussolini and the people overthrew him. A few weeks later, the Allies took the island. This push into Italy allowed the Allies to advance into the penisula of Italy.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was a surprise attack by the Germans. A key mmoment in the battle was at the city of Bastogne. The Americans were surrounded and fighting for their life, and tehy survived. George S. Patton arreived on Dec, 23 and provided aid to get them out. The Alliwed victory helped weaken the German offensive.
  • Hitler Commits Suicide

    Hitler Commits Suicide
    With the Russians nearing his position, Hitler was in his underground bunker wehre he shot and killed himself, after consuming cyanide. With him was his new wife, who also commited suicide soon after Hitler.
  • VE Day!

    VE Day!
    This is the formal day set to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces. This day is celebrated every year in rememberence of the domination of the U.S. Military. God bless the U.S.A.!
