    The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign in World War II, running from 1939 to the defeat of Germany in 1945. Its core was the Allied naval blockade of Germany, announced the day after the declaration of war. They were the wolf packs, which were mutlipe U-boats that would attack at night. Convoys sailed in order to protect transport ships. Allied powers had radar, which led to sonar. Allied powers could see attacks that were supposedly surprise attacks coming.

    The Battle of Britain is the name given to the Second World War defence of the United Kingdom by the Royal Air Force against an onslaught by the German Air Force which began at the end of June 1940. Great Britain won the battle, but only because Germany gave up.

    The Battle of Stalingrad was one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare. The Germans attacked the City of Stalingrad in August of 1942. The Germans failed to take Stalngrad, they also exposed themselves to a Soviet Counterattack. This was a stunning defeat for Hitler. This was the beginning of the end for Germany in the Soviet Union. Soviet Union victory, but they suffered more casualties and civilian deaths.

    The Second Battle of El Alamein was a major battle of the Second World War that took place near the Egyptian railway halt of El Alamein.The Battle of El Alamein marked the culmination of the North African campaign between the forces of the British Empire and the German-Italian army commanded in the field by Erwin Rommel in World War II. Having taken Tobruk in June 1942, Rommel advanced into Egypt but had been checked and beaten at Alam Halfa in September; thereafter the initiative had passed.

Stalin’s Russia had been pressing the Allies to start a new front against the Germans in the western sector of the war in Europe. In 1942, the British did not feel strong enough to attack Germany via France but the victory at El Alamein in November 1942 was a great stimulus to the Allies to attack the Axis forces in North Africa.

They took Sicily, then from Sicily attacked Italy. American General George Patton, perfected the Blitzkrieg, and captured Sicily. Battle of Anzio happened, where the African American pilots were a big part. Victory of allied powers.

The operation commenced on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy landings. Largest armada ever assembled in warfare. Operation Overlord was commanded by Dwight D. Eisenhower.

    On December 16th, 1944, Germany launched a surprise offensive. The Bulge, referred to the bulge in the Allied battle lines created by the Germany advance. For several days, Hitler's forces threatened to win back vital ground from allies. By the end of January 1945, the bulge created by the Germans was pushed back. The end of the war was nearing

    Hitler Commits Suicide
    in 1945, holed up in a bunker under his headquarters in Berlin, Adolf Hitler commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. Soon after, Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces, ending Hitler’s dreams of a “1,000-year” Reich.
