Once the Bismarck was sunk the German navy had to rely more on U-boats to battle the allied navies. The Allies won and controlled the Atlantic.     The purpose of the Battle of Britain was to defend Britian against the German Air Force or Luftwaffe. The British eventually won this battle through their use of Radar and FM Radio. The casualties of this battle amounted to 1,445.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Soviets refused to let the Axis powers take control of Stalingrad which was a major industrial city along the Volga River. This battle marked the beginning of Germany's defeat. Altogether 2 million German's lost their lives and 12 million Soviets died throughout the course of the battle.

    Battle of El Alamein, Egypt
    The battle of El Alamein is where British forces took control away from Germany in North Africa. They mostly used tanks and men on the ground. The British won this battle over the Germans. This was also a battle over the Suez canal. The British forces were controlled by Montgomery, and the German forceds were controlled by Rommel, or the Desert Fox.

    The purpose of Operation Torch was to invade the African countries of Morocco and Algeria to fight against Rommels forces in North Africa. These forces were controlled by the great general Eisenhower. 20,000 Americans were either killed or injured during this operation.

    The British and Americans were looking to defeat the Germans and Italians in Sicily and Italy. The Americans and British won the battle and took control of Sicily and Italy. By the end 300,000 Allied soldiers had been killed or injured. The major battle of this invasion was the battle of Anzio where even the Tuskegee airmen participated. Patton utilized the Blitzkrieg and made them better to defeat the Germans.

    Operation Overlord, otherwise known as D-Day, is where American, British, and Canadien forces invaded the beaches of Normandy to start taking over France. Eventually the allied forces took over France and started taking over the German territory. There was a collective 425,000 deaths over the course of this battle on both sides. Dwight D.   • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was the last major battle for the Germans to defend their territory from the Allied forces on the western front. The allies managed to push through and started working their way to Berlin. A total of 75,000 allied troops had lost their lives at this battle.

    Hitlers troops had been pushed back all the way to Berlin by the Russians and Hitler shot his family and then killed himself with a handgun.
