    American and British Allied forces began Operation Torch an invasion on French North Africa. It was an amphibious attack to seize key ports and airports in Algeria, Morocco. It targeted Casablanca, Oran, and Algeria. It began on November 8, 1942 and concluded on November 16, 1942.

    On June 6, 1944 when dawn broke, the United States and Britain sent nearly 7,000 aircraft and ships containing 160,000 soldiers to the beaches of Normandy. This surprised German commanders because they thought adverse weather conditions would impact the troops of the Allies. Germans were also surprised because they thought they would be attacked from the northeast. This was the largest amphibious assault in history. Operation Overlord started June 6, 1944 - August 30, 1944.

    It was a post war conference held by the United States, Britain, and Soviet Union. The Allied forces were meeting to figure how to reorganize Germany and Europe after it was torn apart by WWII. It was held at a Russian resort in the town of Crimea from February 4-11, 1945.
