  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    The Battle starts with the Lend Lease Act. In short the Lend Lease Act “‘Lending war equipment is a good deal like lending chewing gum. You don't want it back.” (MWS 12). The U.S. agreed to lend war equipment to Britain. When Hitler heard this information he became upset “Hitler saw Lend-Lease as tantamount to a war declaration and ordered attacks on American ships”. Britain won causing the begin of the Blitz, a bombing campaign targeting cities and civilians, bombing Manchester and London.

  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Germany broke their pact with the Soviet Union, trying to take over before winter. This was the largest invasion ever known in history. They quickly took over huge amounts of land taking thousands of prisoners. This did not stop the Soviet Union. They were ready to sacrifice as many as possible. They had a strong army Germany did but the Soviet Union was stronger. Germany’s army was no match for winter and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union ended up defeating Hitlers Army.

  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    America entered the European war. After Britain’s victory in Africa the allies got the Axis powers out of Arica. In preparation for a large bombing period to Germany, after a meeting with Churchill, Roosevelt announced that they would not accept anything but unconditional surrender. America started bombing Germany’s factories and oil fields while RAF bombed the cities. Though Germany was able to shoot down 50% of the planes Allied powers had other plans.

  • Operation Overlord D-Day

    It started with an overnight parachute landing and air attacks. The Allied forces invaded Normandy on June 6 1944. After the beginning of the invasion The Allied powers got support g=from Greece, Belgium and many different European powers. They failed the first day but as they got help they expanded as they captured Cherbourg port.

  • Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference or as some know it by its code name “Argonaut Conference” was held to talk about Post War for Europe. It was held near Yalta in Crimea. It’s main focus was to talk about how the nations would come together again since Europe was so torn apar. This conference was held between United States (Roosevelt), United Kingdom (Winston Churchill ), Russia or Soviet Union at that time (Joseph Stalin). It took place from Ferrari 4-11 1945. They were trying to prevent another Depression.
