    Operation Barbarossa was between Germany and the Soviet Union. Hitler broke the German-Soviet non-aggression pact. Germany invaded the Soviet Union. France and Poland fell in a few weeks, and German officials wanted to get Russia before winter. Germany conquered lots of land and got lots of prisoners. However, Russia was too big and were willing to sacrifice millions to stop Germany. Stalin did everything he could to have Russia recover. The Soviet Union broke Germanys army and they retreated.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    The U.S was arguing if they should lend Britain materials for war. Eventually, it was passed to lend them materials. Because of this America was no longer neutral, and Hitler ordered ships to attack American ships. Roosevelt met with Churchill in 1941 and agreed to the Atlantic Charter, a statement that outlined Anglo-American war aims. The U.S was willing to commit almost everything. Hitler attacked Britain by bombings that targeted cities. It ended when Hitler went after the Soviet Union.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    Britain was pushing Germany out of Africa. By 1943, the Allies pushed the axis forces out of Africa. The AAF sent hundreds, and soon thousands, of bombers to England to bomb Germany. When Americans were bombing Germany, the Germans were shooting them down. They shot down around 50% of American aircraft. Later Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill met up and made the plan for an invasion in 1944.
  • Operation Overlord

    Allies did an invasion where they invaded Normandy on 06/6/41. It started as night attacks. In the morning attacks on 5 beaches began. In the evening the remaining aircrafts landed. Allies didn’t reach their goals on the first day. They had a comeback when they captured the port at Cherbourg on 06/26 and Caen on 07/21. A counterattack by Germany on 08/8 led to 50,000 soldiers being trapped in the Falaise pocket. Allies did an invasion of France on 08/15. The Liberation of Paris followed on 08/25
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    It was held from 02/4-11. It included the heads of government of the U.S, the UK, and the Soviet Union. It was to discuss Europes post war reorganization. It was held in the Livadia Palace. The meeting was to discuss the re-establishment of Europe. Yalta became a controversial topic from the Cold War. It was a crucial turning point in the Cold War.
