The First Industrial Revolution brough about inventions that helped the social classes rise up from where they were. Inventions like James Hargreave's Spinning Jenny made it possible for the rate of produciton to go up and therefore those using the new machine where given the opportunity for their wages to rise and more time outside of work. -
The Tennis Court Oath; The French Revoluion
"Liberty Leading The People" by Eugène Delacroix. The French Revolution was a chance for the third estate, especially the poor, to move out of the social class they resided in. They were given opportunities to get better jobs, set an example for revolutions to follow and to engage in politics. The Tennis Court Oath was the beginning of self-betterment for the third estate. -
Victor Emmanuel is named the First King of Unified Italy
The Unification of Italy was ultimately a rebellion of the people. They disagreed witht the current government and how things were run throughout the country. By joining in either Gariboldi's revolution from the South or the revolutionist of the North, the lower and middle class Italians made their mark on history and united their country. -
William I was named the first emporer of Germany; Unification of Germany
The German states need to unify strengthened the position of the poor. They were now no longer required to be under the control of just the Prince of their areas, instead they were responsible to the newly centralized government. -
Electricity; The 2nd Industrial Revolution
With Thomas Edisons invention of the lightbulb, and the birth of the 2nd Industrial Revolution the lower classes accross Europe once again found themsleves in a position that was changing for the better. The invetors of the time were well known for their new ideas and creative thinking which helped the lower classes. Many of these inventors did not come from aristocratic backgrounds but, made their names through their inventions -
October Revolution 1917; Russian Revolution
The October revolution in 1917 was when the Russians instated the new "Soviet Russia". This new government allowed for a communist regim to take over from the Tsar. The communist regim allowed for equality to spread through the country. "Bolshevik" by Boris Kustodiev showed how the people rallyed around the new idea of equality and everything that the communist party stood for.
