Cold War Begins
After World War 2 tensions rose over conflicting ideologies between the U.S. and the Soviet Union which would lead to a near 50 year long arms race. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
In October of 1962, U.S. spy planes found Soviet missiles in Cuba, fearing missiles that close to home the U.S. began blockading Cuba to keep the Soviets out. After two tense weeks the Soviets agreed to remove the missiles. It was the closest the world had gotten to World War 3. -
Cold War Ends
The Cold War ends in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. -
