    Invasion of Poland

    Hitler led the Germans to invade Poland because he wanted to live there. They killed over 65000 poles and Jews to invade Poland.

    Fall of France

    A major attack by German forces to not only take over France, but also Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The Germans were able to be dominating Europe for about 2 years without any competition from American allied forces.

    Rescue at Dunkirk

    Tons of British troops were on the beach of Dunkirk and the British air forces were able to intercept German bombers. This saved about 340000 people, but it was a lost battle for the allies.

    The London Blitz

    German planes flew over London dropping bombs, destroying over 11000 homes, and killing about 1500 people. The Germans did this all but 2 days during this time period, ending in a victory for Europe due to their outlasting of the bombs

    Stalingrad

    Russia had exhausted the German army of ammunition and food after the long battle. This cause Hitler's first field army to surrender and start to change the tide of the war.

    Italian Campaign

    This was an attempt to completely knock Italy out of the war, but also divert troops away from fighting the Soviet Union. Germany was unable to sustain both war fronts and ended up surrendering to allies of the United States to prevent even more loss.

    United States and allies landed 150000 troops on 5 beaches in Normandy. They were able to defeat German forces and this sparked the thought in Germany's head that they were indefinitely going to lose the war.

    Allies fought in the German area of the Netherlands to try and create an access point to enter Germany. It was a failed operation due to the lack of resources by the allies.

    Battle of the Bulge

    Last offensive attack by the German forces in the dense forest of Ardennes. Victory went to the United States but there was a heavy cost of troops due to the weather conditions.
  • Victory in Europe Day

    The day the German forces surrendered to the allies of America. This is marked as the end of World War 2 in Europe.
