Greece’s parliament overwhelmingly voted to limit the power of laws grounded in the Islamic faith, which are still enforced for Muslim citizens in a region bordering Turkey. The legislation gives Greek courts priority in all cases and makes Shariah law optional. Government officials say the law could be the first move toward abolishing Shariah entirely in Greece. -
Poland’s Controversial Holocaust Bill Becomes a Law
Law mandates fines or imprisonment for people who accuse the Polish population of responsibility or complicity in war crimes. Poland enacted a libel law to punish those who accuse Polish society of complicity in the Holocaust, despite objections from the U.S., Israel and some Auschwitz survivors, who said it threatened to stifle honest discussion of the Nazi genocide. -

France Wins the 2018 FIFA World Cup
The FIFA World Cup is a soccer tournament played every 4 years, with the participants being the men’s national teams. It took place in Russia and was the first held in Eastern Europe. This was the 21st FIFA World Cup event. It was the most expensive event yet costing over 14.2 billion dollars. The final was played in Moscow on July 15th. France and Croatia were the finalists and France won the championship match 4-2. -
Amsterdam Stabbing Attack
Two American tourists were stabbed and injured by a 19 year old male from Afghanistan. The male noticed that the security guards were looking at him when he got off the train and before they could stop him he stabbed two people. The Amsterdam Police were able to take down the attacker with a bullet. It was thought that the attacker had a terrorist motive. -

Ireland, Scotland, and the United Kingdom were affected by Storm Ali, which reached wind gusts of 102mph. Along with two people killed, hundred or thousands of people were out of power, and dozens were injured. -

Austrian police believe that a bloody feud between Balkan mafia families broke out onto the streets of Vienna on Friday, when two men were gunned down in the heart of the Austrian capital. It was confirmed that it was a targeted shooting, and the gunman is still on the loose.
