    Estonia is finally seen as an independent country by the Triple Entente and many other countries.

  • The communists attempt to overthrow the government

    The communists tried to gain control over Estonia. Since the coup had failed the Estonian Defence League was reorganized to make sure this won't happen again.
  • How the parliament supports the minorities

    The parliament accepted a law that determined the principles of cultural municipality. This could be created by any national group of more than 3000 people.
  • Estonian Kroon

    After the Estonian politicians and financial leaders managed to improve the economic state of Estonia the Estonian kroon was created.
  • Vaps Movement

    The Vaps Movement was created to be prepared for future battles.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression reached Estonia by 1930. By 1932 there were 32,000 unemployed. The only choice was to devalue the Estonian kroon. No one wanted to make that decision and Päts's government made it illegal to even spread the idea of it.
  • Jaan Tõnisson after economic crisis

    Jaan Tõnisson was in office from 18 May 1933 - 21 October 1933. He made the hard decision and finally devalued the Estonian kroon.

    The Silent Era

    Konstantin Päts signed the new constitution. Staging a military coup. He declared state of emergency. He did this because the Veterans' League was accused of planning a violent coup d'etat.
  • New constitution

    A new constitution leaning heavily on a presidential system was accepted.
  • Treaty of Bases

    The Treaty of Bases also known as the Pact of Mutual Assistance was signed on 28 September 1939. Estonia was pressured by the Soviet Union to let them build military bases on Estonian territory. The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact that was signed on August 23, 1939, had a secret protocol that placed Estonia in the Soviet sphere of interest.
  • The occupation of Estonia

    Estonia was faced with an ultimatum that claimed Estonia violated the Pact of Mutual Assistance and was demanded to allow more military forces in. Estonia was faced with a military invasion.
