    Amy a deaf child, given a sign language interpreter for a 2 week trial. Because she can read lips and was given an FM wireless, the school district and the sign language interpreter feels she no longer need sign services. Parents who are both deaf, sued the for violation of the EAHCA. The courts ruled in Rowley favor. The Supreme Court thought different: if she is able to function in school and achieve academically, the school doesn't have to provide her with sign interpreter.

    Two students, both emotionally disturbed, were suspended from school for behavior problems. Both students sued due to their rights being violated such as the "stay-put", Both students asked the district court to allow them to go back to their school. an injunction was issued, The courts refused to rule Does case, he was 21 by the time the case was heard, it ruled in favor for Smith he was still underage. Supreme Courts ruled no student is allowed to be suspended more then 10 day, if needed

    Board of Education of City School Dist. of N.Y. v. Tom F., on behalf of Gilbert F., a minor

    Tom F. enrolled his son Gilbert, ADHD, in a private school, which the school district was reimbursing. After 2 years they tried placing his son in a different program. Tom denied the offer, continued with private school. The U.S. district court ruled that the school was not required to reimburse tuition. Tom never enrolled his son in P.S because it wasn't the right fit. His argument, IDEA doesn't say children who have never received public education are not entitled to reimbursement.
