American philosopher of science Ernest Nagel is born in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Slovakia -
The Education Begins
Ernest Nagel obtains his Bachelors of Science degree from the College of the City of New York. Afterwards he moves on to Columbia University and receives his Master's Degree in philosophy. He stayed there to pursue his doctorate which he got in 1931, before moving back to the City College of New York to be an instructor.

An Introduction to Logic and Scientific Method
Ernest Nagel and Morris R. Cohen publish a book called 'An Introduction to Logic and Scientific Method' becoming one of the first and most influential textbooks on the scientific method. In this he illustrates the function of logical principles in the scientific method. -
The Structure of Science
Ernest Nagel published 'The Structure of Science' which is believed to be his most work on he philosophy of science. While in Columbia he became what is known as a Naturalist, and in this book he analyzes the nature of explanation, the logic of scientific inquiry, and the logical structure of the organization of scientific knowledge. -
Professor Emeritus
Following his retirement, Nagel, received the distinguished honor of being named a Professor Emeritus. This is given to members of the professorial staff who after 10 years of service as a university professor, professor, or associate professor who had distinguished service to the academy. -
