    The goal of this report is to help readers understand who Ernest Nagel was. Born in Prague in 1901 and moving to the United States with his family at an early age. Nagel was known to be the twentieth century Jewish philosopher of science.
  • Ernest Nagel (1919-1946)

    During his academic life in the states, Nagel earned his degree from the City College of NY in 1923. Nagel went on to receive his PhD from Columbia University in 1930. Then accepting a position at the same university and fulfilling his duty until 1965. This is where he would remain for the majority of his career. During this time, Nagel served as an editor of Journal of Philosophy from 1939-1956 and the Journal of Symbolic Logic during 1940-1946.
  • Ernest Nagel (1957-1985)

    Negal published Logic without Metaphysics in 1957 and The Structure of Science in 1961. His writings on the philosophy of science were widely regarded as the greatest ever published in the scientific world. He had no idea that in 1967, he would become the most distinguished academic university professor in history. After that, he stayed at the university until 1973 as a renowned professor. Ernest Nagel died on September 22, 1985, in New York City, of pneumonia.
