  • Isabella turns one

    Isabella turns one
    It's Isabella's first birthday, she's a happy baby at the birthday party and enjoys interacting with family members.
    In this stage of Erikson's development, trust v. mistrust, Isabella has learned that she can trust the adults in her life because her caregivers are in-tune with her needs and feed her, change her, put her to bed when it's time, play with her, laugh with her and soothe her when she's upset. If these things are not experienced, she will learn to mistrust adults and caregivers.
  • Isabella enters a Pre-K program (4 years)

    Isabella enters a Pre-K program (4 years)
    Isabella enters a local part day pre-k program where she enjoys playing in dramatic play, creating elaborate art projects and interacting with peers.
    During this stage of Erikson's stages, initiative v. guilt, Isabella is demonstrating an ability to plan activities in a purposeful way (through the use of play) as well as emotional control. If these activities/emotions are encourage by teachers and caregivers, she will experience initiative, if they are discouraged she will experience guilt.
  • Isabella gets married

    Isabella gets married
    At the age of 25, Isabella decides to marry her boyfriend, because they desire intimacy over isolation.
    At this stage of Erikson's development, intimacy vs. isolation, both Isabella and her husband choose to pursue intimacy through a life long commitment of marriage. If she choose not to marry, she may end up feeling isolated in their singleness for unknown amount of time, especially as her peers continue to marry and have children.
  • Isabella turns 80

    Isabella turns 80
    Isabella turns 80 and takes times to reflect on her life.

    At this stage of Erikson's development, ego integrity v. despair, Isabella looks back and reflects on her life. If she feels content with the choices she has made in her life and although it wasn't perfect but she made the most of it, she will experience ego integrity, if she regrets her choices or has resentment over the past she will experience despair.
