  • Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt

    Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt
    January 15, 2021. Athena, (2 year old toddler) is demanding that she hold her fork by herself, but struggles so her parent demands to do it. Athena may now begin to develop self doubt with her abilities. This can lead up to low self esteem and feeling of shame.
    Erikson's second stage, Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt.
    This is the crisis between the toddler learning independence or when denied, learning the feelings of low self esteem or shame.
  • Trust vs Mistrust

    Trust vs Mistrust
    February 2, 2021.
    Cassidy, (newborn) must learn if she can trust her mother or not. Her mother is not meeting her needs, so Cassidy makes the decision not to trust her mother. Cassidy will likely grow up with a sense of mistrust for people she meets.
    Erikson's first stage, Trust vs Mistrust.
    This is the crisis between the newborn and the parent. Learning if the newborn should trust the parent or not, leading to grow up with fear and mistrust of others.
  • Industry vs Inferiority

    Industry vs Inferiority
    March 29, 2021. Paisley,(9 year old)is struggling in school with her grades. She feels she doesn't measure up because she is not receiving good grades that everyone expects her to have. This leads her to develop a feel of inferior and inadequate. This causes a child to develop an inferiority complex into adolescence and adulthood.
    Erikson's fourth stage, Industry vs Inferiority.
    This is the crisis between a child developing a sense of pride or inferior and inadequate from self doubt.
