Erikson Timeline- Audrey G.

  • Trust vs Mistrust

Rachel (6 months) relies on her parents to take care of her. She is loved by many, and is a happy and healthy baby. The crisis in this stage is based on the response of the caregivers. Infants can develop trust or mistrust based on whether their caregivers are rash and absent or loving and nurturing.
  • Industry vs Inferiority

Rachel (10 years old) just started playing soccer where she has been excelling. Unfortunately, Rachel has been struggling in school and starting to feel like she is falling behind. The crisis that occurs in this stage is Industry vs Inferiority. Children start to develop new skills. The ones that excel experience a sense of fufillment and satisfaction, while the ones who don't develop these new skills start to feel inferior to those around them.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

Rachel (20 yo) had previously commited to play soccer in college. She is entering her third year on the team. She has grow close to the girls on the team. She is begining to truely value the relationships she has created with each player. The crisis that occurs in this stage is Intimacy vs Isolation. Some individuals struggle to form intimate relationships, especially if they have not resolved the identity crisis in Eriksons previous stage (Identity vs Confusion), which can lead to loneliness.
