Hayley choosing a school (Identity vs. role confusion)
Hayley (18) is about to graduate high school. She just got accepted to Gonzaga and Boise for college. Her dream is to go to Gonzaga but her high school sweetheart is going to Boise. In Erikson 5th stage of development identity vs. role confusion. It is the process of figuring out your personal identity. If you don't explore different identities it could lead you to being confused on where you fit in. Hayley decides to go to Gonzaga because she believes that she will fit best in that environment. -
Hayley getting married (Intimacy vs. Isolation)
Hayley now 27 married her high school sweetheart. They made the decision to stay faithful to each other and enjoy the rest of their life's together. Hayley entered the 6th stage of Erikson's stages, Intimacy vs. isolation. This is the stage where you find love. Hayley made the decision to stay close and in love with someone rather than being alone. -
Hayley gets sick (Integrity vs. Despair)
Hayley at the age of 65 got diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Hayley raised four beautiful children. She has been married for nearly 40 years now. Her family helps her fight through the challenges of cancer and she becomes cancer free 3 years later. At this stage of development Hayley looks back at her life to see if she lives a great life which she had accomplished. This is the last stage of Erickson's developments called Integrity vs. despair.
