    Born into Poverty
    Chusita is an infant in Guatemala. Her mother is suffering postpartum depression and her father does not provide for them. The mother does not provide enough love and stimulation, and Chusita is at risk for cognitive impairment. Chusita is in the stage Trust vs. Mistrust. The outcome of this will lead Chusita to have a negative view of the world as she grows into a toddler, with problems in temperament and social interaction.
  • Comfort in Playmates

    Comfort in Playmates
    Chusita has found a brave new world of stimulation and playmates in her increasing gross motor skills. She starts to overcome her first failed stage due to the increase in responsiveness in her environment. Her mother has recovered from her depression and is very invested in preparing her daughter for school. Chusita is in the stage of Autonomy vs Shame and Doubt. As Chusita learns she is distinct from others, she starts making choices developing her autonomy. She passes this stage.
  • Sleep Overs

    Sleep Overs
    Chusita is a student in primary education. She makes friends and plans a sleep over. Her mother is very supportive and reinforces her initiative. She is in the stage of Initiative vs. Guilt. As long as her planning of activities is appropriate, and in moderation, she will pass this stage and have a healthy skill in planning activities with family, friends, and work. Elaborate and frequent planning may overwhelm her mother.
