Trust vs. Mistrust
During this stage, infants are very dependent so developing trust is from the dependability and quality of care the infant receives in its earlier days. When Michael was born, his mother was always very loving and attentive to his needs.Which leads us to think that this Erikson stage was successful and Michael Jackson was able to learn how to trust. -
Industry vs. Inferiority
During this stage, the individual starts to feel inferior or discouraged by criticism of one's work. When Michael was only 11 years old, he began singing with a group called the Jackson 5. In an interview, he mentioned that his dad used to watch their practice videos and would constantly call out his mistakes. This resulted in Michael growing up as a perfectionist in his work. -
Generativity vs. Stagnation
During this stage, the individual is either making a positive impact and contributing to the community or they are representing feeling stuck and a lack of purpose. All of Michael Jackson's life hes been giving back to the communities. For example, his song "We Are The World" was to raise awareness to take care of our planet. Although he passed away earlier than most, at age 50, he made a lot of positive impact to the world and inspired many young adults to pursue their dreams.
