Erikson Timeline by Gabbie Garnica

  • Finding herself: Identity versus Confusion

    Finding herself: Identity versus Confusion
Patricia struggled to figure out her identity and lost many friends figuring it out. She eventually found herself and is now working toward her future rather than for the approval of others. In Erikson's fifth stage, Identity versus Confusion, forging a strong identity will help in the future rather than those who are confused will remain unsure of their future.
  • Found love: Intimacy versus Isolation

    Found love: Intimacy versus Isolation
Patricia found herself in love when she least expected it and opened up to letting someone in. In Erikson's sixth stage, Intimacy versus Isolation, it is about creating intimate relationships with others and experiencing love, while isolation leaves you to feel lonely at times.
  • Did she live her life: Integrity versus Despair

Did she live her life: Integrity versus Despair
Patricia has gotten older and looks back on her life and whether she really lived her life the way she wanted to. She goes through photographs of her when she was younger and smiles, and decides she is at peace with her life. In Erikson's eight stage, Integrity versus Despair, is when you get older and you reflect whether you are happy with how you spent your life or if you are not happy with how you spent your life.
