Erikson Timeline

  • Industry vs. Inferiority

    Industry vs. Inferiority
Jeannette McCurdy starts her acting career at 6 years old as background work. This year she keeps auditioning for principal roles but she never does, which makes her feel like she is not good enough. In Erikson's fourth stage the child feels the need to win approval by demonstrating specific competencies (starting her acting career), or if the child cannot develop the specific skill they feel society is demanding then they may develop a sense of Inferiority (She's getting second roles).
  • Identity vs. Role Confusion

    Identity vs. Role Confusion
Jeannette gets booked on iCarly and her life changes a lot through these years. Being a start in a show, she gets her own house and becomes a little more independent despite her mom's opposition. She starts her music career as well and goes on a tour to clear her mind and find herself.

It is during this stage that the adolescent will identify and try to find out exactly who she is. Failing to do so, they'll have role confusion (the person not being sure about themselves)
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Intimacy vs. Isolation
After Jennette's mom passed away, she started life with alcohol and an eating disorder that lead her to isolate herself from others. To her, her mom was the only person she ever shared closeness.
In this stage we begin to share ourselves more intimately with others. Avoiding intimacy, can lead to loneliness, and sometimes depression.
